The normal situation is to give an extra key to your friend/neighbor but that doesn't work for me! Thanks.

I have an extra key under a screwed down tread mat on the back door steps.  I have to feel around a little to find it, so it's very unlikely an home breaker would.

F*** that. These are the same people who, over the years, have stolen my packages off my porch. WTF would I give them a key to my castle?

@book Believe it or not that's what most people do :p. Though I live in the south, and everyone is mostly nice.

I ordered a hide-a-key rock and a lockbox. The lockbox seems to be the better option, so I'll probably find a good place to stick it.

How about.. make extra key and place 1 key in a place outside your home that you can access all the time.. like your school locker, office desk, dashboard, etc.

Probably dangerous, but we just keep the back door unlocked. We are in a fairly nice area and if someone really want to come into a house with 4 people, a cat, and a dog, then I don't know how they'd get very far. Actually currently 5 people, because one of my roommates has been having their boyfriend around for like the past 2-3 weeks and is considering having him move in.
