I am new here so I apologise if this thread has already been made. For me it would have to be Yayoi Kusama. I have always been a fan of hers and I recently went to her gallery in London. Her style of abstract expressionism and story really made me think about life. I especially liked her "room of narcissism" as it sent a very strong message to me. I was thinking about the gallery for hours because it was so deep.

Ive never felt any painting influence my philosophy of life. Only some artists whose works are very in-tune with my emotion and personality. If there was a gallery of Jacek Yerka's paintings here i could spend hours there.

Welcome Andreas.
Two artists that come to mind that have made an impression on me are Zdenek Burian and Maxfield Parish.
Burian for his prehistoric art of early man and animals in their natural settings, and some of Parish's for their paradisaical qualities.  You can tell from this why I'm a rare loner who loves the sun.  I can't say if they necessarily influenced my philosophy, but they still do evoke a powerful but ineffable "meaning" for me, a sense of deep mystery in the case of Burian, and a sense of luxurious ease, beauty and joy in the case of Parish.  Like all art, they speak a language all their own.
I also like ancient art from past cultures---Greece & Rome (the paintings and mosaics), Byzantine art, the moai of Rapa Nui, Indian architecture and statuary....Pulp fiction art from the 20's to the 60's.
I took a look at Kusama's art, and it is striking in its bright color and intricacy, but for art to move me, it has to have people or animals in it, beings that think and feel.

Thankyou, that reply was very satisfying to read. I do find your idea that art has to involve some form of life to be truely influential quite interesting, I have never though of it in that way
