Are bayonettes illegal?  Does anyone know..  do they work better for killing annoying neighbors than a fire-arm, say?

It counts as a trench knife and yes, that is illegal, depending on where you live.

And think of it this way.

Knifes are personal weapons, you have to physically hold it to kill a person. That's usually messy.
Where as a gun can leave enough evidence behind to find you.

I did a search for "bayonet legality" and it seems it differs depending on the state or type of gun it's mounted on. I'm from the "live free or die" state so my guess is their probably legal where I am. I don't know about california. Just....just be careful and don't bayonet the neighbors! That would be undiplomatic.
(okay here we go...this I got from a gun owners forum. Bayonets are legal to own everywhere in the US it's just that certain states have "assault weapon" bans that do not allow certain features included on a shot gun or assault rifle)

thanks e for the help    I uh, I've depressurized a little bit with the person involved   I need to get out and find some kind of winter garden somewhere to help out on, this is a cabin-fever situation brewing..  the main problem is simply lack of wall thickness due to the age of the complex let's say (houses that were huge in the '70's are hardly considered huge today etc.), but also, the individual in question here is even more house-bound than me.. anyways..
